On Wednesday, January 13th, 2016, Sabella D10 tidal turbine has achieved 50 MWh of electricity production.

After a gradual increase in power production since its underwater connection 2 km away from Ushant’s shore, in the powerful Fromveur Strait, where the second strongest marine currents in France take place, Sabella D10 tidal turbine has generated more than 50 MWh electricity in real exploitation conditions.
This represents a major achievement for the first tidal turbine grid connected in France. Sabella D10 thus reveals a performance in line with SABELLA’s engineers’ expectations. The severe storms that were encountered end of 2015 and beginning of 2016 also allow to demonstrate the tidal turbine’s excellent mechanical behavior and good functioning in very harsh winter conditions.
The tests on Sabella D10 continue, with on the one hand a survey of environmental impacts and learnings about the natural environment, in partnership with IFREMER and Iroise Marine Natural Park, and on the other hand performance and mechanical data collection, with a certification approach in mind, together with BUREAU VERITAS.
