Following recent evidences of water on the Red Planet and discovery of channels with high water current velocities by Curiosity robotic rover, NASA and SABELLA signed on March 27th 2017 a joint research agreement in order to study the deployment of tidal turbines on Mars.

NASA was convinced by the simplicity and ruggedness of SABELLA's technology, allowing very long periods without maintenance, which is vital in hostil and hard-to-access environments such as Planet Mars.
Turbines will first fuel the first very energy-consuming human bases on the Red Planet, and especially allow the necessary Oxygen production. The installation of the first turbines is planned at the horizon 2025, to prepare the deployment of the first human bases, foreseen in 2030 by NASA.
